Alaska: Airplanes Collide Simultaneously in Various Areas

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA, USA
Two small planes collided Saturday at roughly the same time in two different locations in Alaska, leaving four dead, according to federal investigators. Disasters happened nearly 1,000 kms (more than 600 miles) away.

KTUU-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2qv2hEF) that the National Transportation Safety Board said two people were killed and another was injured when a Piper PA-30 crashed 14 kms (9 miles) to the southwest of Haines about 11 o’clock in the morning. The wounded was taken to a Juneau medical center by helicopter.

Witnesses reported they noticed the twin-engine aircraft crash shortly after takeoff, authorities said.

On the other hand, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner accounts (http://bit.ly/2s9nHs9) that the single-engine Arctic Aircraft an S-1B2 crashed east of Fairbanks, also at 11 o’clock early morning. Alaska state agencies reported Saturday the pilot and passenger of this plane died in the crash.
