Trump Advisor Kellyanne Conway Criticized for Sitting with Feet On Oval Lounge Sofa

Kellyanne Conway, an adviser to US President Donald Trump, sparked criticism on social networks on Monday for sitting with her feet on a couch in the White House Oval Office at an official reception. In a photo Conway is seen sitting with his legs folded on a sofa in Trump’s office with the phone in her hand while the president poses for a photo with the black leaders of colleges and universities . Many Twitter users scolded Conway, some interpreting that her body language was a sign of “disrespect.” “Conway with her shoes on an Oval Lounge couch – consistent with varying degrees of disrespect that the Trump team has shown,” wrote one user. “The new photo base of the ‘white privilege’,” wrote another user on the photo in which you see a large group of black people standing. Some compared this with a 2013 photo of former President Barack Obama with his feet on the desk of the Oval Office. “Remember when the Republicans lost their heads over the decoration of Obama’s Oval Of

MANY ASPECTS OF THE FIRST AMENDMENT HAVE BEEN NEUTERED

PROTEST IS INCREASINGLY BECOMING CRIMINALIZED IN AMERICA SOURCE: MICHAEL KRIEGER, LIBERTY BLITZKRIEG The historical space available for Americans to engage in public protest has been declining for many years, and is a topic I covered on several occasions during the Obama administration. For instance in the post,  The War on Free Speech – U.S. Department of Justice Subpoenas Reason.com Over Comment Section, I noted: Readers of Liberty Blitzkrieg will be well aware of the gradual erosion by the state of the civil liberties of the American public. Such attacks are typically sufficiently under the radar, so that the average citizen has no idea what is happening until it’s too late. I have written about such calculated assaults on many occasions, but the holy grail target of the status quo is the First Amendment of the Constitution, which enshrines a right to the freedom of religion, speech, the press, and the right to peaceably assemble and petition the Government for a redres

Jack Nicklaus Talks about Tiger Woods

Jack Nicklaus says he was “painting a portrait” after a practice round with Tiger Woods at the 1996 Masters. He then said Woods had the skill to win at least 10 green jackets. On Sunday, in the Honda Classic tournament, he referred to Woods as an “enigma”. In an interview before appearing in the NBC Sports broadcast booth, Nicklaus was talking about the growing number of young players who can win major tournaments. He said “they have the opertunity to win because Woods was no longer dominant while recovering from a long list of injuries”. “And now, I do not know about Tiger,” Nicklaus said. “It’s the biggest enigma I know, I just do not know where he is and where his mind is, I do not know.” Woods failed to overcome the cut at Torrey Pines in his 2017 debut, then flew half the world to Dubai and left the tournament with spasms in the back after 77 strokes. Woods retired from the Genesis Open in Riviera, which is organized by his foundation, and this week’s Honda Classic. He ca

Canada is Becoming a Major Weapons Dealer

SOURCE: DAVID SWANSON Canada is becoming a major weapons dealer , a reliable accomplice in U.S. wars, and a true believer in “humanitarian” armed peacekeeping as a useful response to all the destruction fueled by the weapons dealing.William Geimer’s Canada: The Case for Staying Out of Other People’s Wars is an excellent antiwar book, useful to anyone seeking to understand or abolish war anywhere on earth. But it happens to be written from a Canadian perspective of possibly particular value to Canadians and residents of other NATO countries, including being valuable right now as Trumpolini demands of them increased investment in the machinery of death. By “other people’s wars” Geimer means to indicate Canada’s role as subservient to leading war-maker the United States, and historically Canada’s similar position toward Britain. But he also means that the wars Canada fights in do not involve actually defending Canada. So, it’s worth noting that they don’t involve actually

Venezuelan Vice President Says that US has no ‘Evidence’ Against Him

Venezuelan Vice President Tareck El Aissami said Sunday that the US Treasury Department has not presented evidence against him on allegations that he is linked to international drug trafficking because “there is no evidence.” “There is not a single proof of evidence”. It is an arbitrary, illegal, extraterritorial measure that violates all types of rights … The OFAC has not issued a single item of proof and will not issue it because there is no evidence, Said in an interview with CTN News. According to El Aissami, US authorities have taken the testimony of four drug traffickers captured in Venezuela under his leadership when he headed the country’s Interior Ministry and are using them as part of a “hoax” to accuse the Venezuelan state of drug trafficking. On February 13, the United States government imposed economic sanctions on El Aissami for allegedly “playing a significant role in international trafficking of narcotics.” The US authorities explained that these actions are the

Democrats Elect Tom Perez as President

Members of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) today elected Hispanic President Tom Perez who has vowed to strengthen the local Democratic structure to beat Republicans and President Donald Trump in the upcoming elections. Perez, former Labor Secretary and civil rights lawyer, seized 235 of the 445 votes of Democrat-elect in Atlanta (Georgia) since Thursday as the new leader of the Democratic National Committee, a figure equivalent to that of the European parties. The first thing that Perez did after being named the new leader of the Democrats was to extend his hand to the congressman from Minnesota Keith Ellison, akin to the most progressive wing of the party, African-American, Muslim and who had emerged forcefully as Perez’s greatest opponent for Presidency of the Democratic National Committee. “I want to propose a motion that I have debated with my good friend Ellison to suspend the rules right now and appoint him vice president of the National Democratic Committee,” said

Trump to Deliver his First Speech to the House and Senate on Tuesday

A presidential speech before Congress is one of those typically American acts that ooze ritual and decorum. Standing at the back of the room, the usher will announce the arrival of Donald Trump to the joint session of the cameras with the well-known phrase, “the President of the United States.” Trump will walk down the center aisle between enthusiastic applause and strong Republican hand shakes. First Lady Melania Trump, accompanied by special guests, will smile from the tall gallery. However from that point on the president can head in any of many possible directions. So can the Democratic opposition. The White House promises that Trump’s first speech to Congress will focus on the future with a view to “renewing the American spirit.” Facing millions of viewers in the country and the world, Trump will have the opportunity to rethink his mandate after a chaotic start in which he baffled foreign rulers, furiously attacked the leaked information, fought a pitched battle against t

President Trump Speak a Language Very Rich in Adjectives

By Wesley Pruden – The Washington Times    Donald Trump isn’t the carrier of the disease that threatens the language, but he suffers with enthusiasm. His abuse of the adjective might eventually threaten his foreign policy. Nothing is ever merely “good,” or “fortunate.” No appointment is merely “outstanding.” Everything is “fantastic,” or “terrific,” and every man or woman he appoints to a government position, even if just two shades above mediocre, is “tremendous.” The Donald never met a superlative he didn’t like, himself as the ultimate superlative most of all. Hyperbole is the affliction of our age, where life is lived on the surface, entertainment is all and synthetic excitement is as good as the real thing. Why end a sentence with a period, when you can use an exclamation point, or even two? Or three. Few exclamation points come into the lives of most of us, and even though being the president is naturally semi-exciting, life even for him is rarely “tremendously excitin

Four Presidents Stand Out on Mount Rushmore in South Dakota

In the Black Hills of South Dakota stands an impressive mountain: Mount Rushmore. The visitor is amazed to see, carved in the rock, the faces of four of the most beloved and revered American presidents: Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt. Less known is the sculptor of Mount Rushmore. Gutzon Borglum, the son of Danish immigrants and born in Idaho, who studied at the Mark Hopkins School of Art, today the San Francisco Art Institute. Many presidents have not claimed a spot in the pantheon Borglum carved on the mountainside. Some say there is still room for several more on Mount Rushmore, but the selection would unleash a partisan battle. Democrats would add Franklin Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy, and Republicans would probably choose Dwight D. Eisenhower and Ronald Reagan. But what about Harry Truman and William McKinley? Let us consider those who have no possibilities, whom history will not remember with monumental goodness. Some, like Benjamin Harrison and John

Malaysian Police Raid Airport Terminal where Kim Died

Malaysian police said they would raid the Kuala Lumpur airport terminal where they killed the brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, searching for traces of the neurotoxic substance they believe was used in the attack. “Agents from the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear divisions, as well as the hazardous materials units of the firefighters and the atomic energy board will be used”, police said. Since the Feb. 13 attack, thousands of passengers have passed through the airport. There were no areas closed to the public and no protective measures were taken, although authorities announced Friday that they would decontaminate the facilities. Meanwhile, the Indonesian woman suspected of killing Kim Jong Nam said “she was paid $90 for collaborating on what she thought was a joke”, a Malaysian official said on Saturday. Siti Aisyah also told authorities she “did not want her parents to be detained”, said Andriano Erwin, Indonesia’s deputy foreign minister in Malaysia
