President Trumps “working vacation” to New Jersey

In a break from the capital and a hectic first half on the job, President Donald Trump spent a quiet Saturday on his first full day of a working vacation.

With the burden of disputes in the White House West Wing, a paralyzed legislative agenda and a slew of investigations against him, Trump left Washington on Friday afternoon for a 17-day trip to the golf club he owned In central New Jersey.

He was accompanied by his daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kushner, as well as the collaborator in charge of restoring order to the government of White House chief of staff John Kelly.

An official at the presidential residence said Trump’s plans for Bedminster, where the club is, include meetings with contributors and lawmakers.

Kelly informed Trump of the three Marines who disappeared after their Osprey aircraft crashed Saturday at sea off the east coast of Australia in an attempt to land.

The White House did not respond to questions about whether the president played golf on a day of overcast and turned sunny in the afternoon.

Trump, a social networking enthusiast, remained relatively inactive on Twitter on Saturday. Around noon, he tweeted: “Prosperity is returning to our shores because we are putting the WORKERS and the FAMILIES of the United States first.”

Kelly’s first week in office was marked by efforts to regroup or piece back together a messy system.

He immediately appeared on Monday: he dismissed the newly appointed communications director Anthony Scaramucci, and began a review of the command structure for all high-level contributors to report to him.

It is not yet known if the president will change his style on Twitter.

On Tuesday he said in a tweet that “only the False News Media and Trump’s enemies want him to stop using social media.”

Before he took office, he frequently criticized former President Barack Obama for taking a vacation and playing golf, things he is doing himself now.
