Protecting Democracy from Foreign Interference: Lessons from the Canadian Election: One particularly concerning example of interference occurred during the 2023 Canadian federal election. 

It has been reported that a group with ties to the Chinese government engaged in a disinformation campaign aimed at discrediting the incumbent Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, and his Liberal Party. 

This campaign involved the dissemination of false information through social media and other online platforms, in an attempt to influence public opinion and sway the election in favor of the Conservative Party.
