Jealous Dogs – Bigger Problem Than You Think

Jealous dogs exist, just as there are jealous people. They are very possessive animals that can not stand that their owners caress another animal or, even touching other people.

Although it may seem funny to see your puppy turn away from your partner when he comes to kiss you as we see in many videos on the Internet, the truth is that it is not funny because it is indicating a behaviour problem in the animal that can become very serious.

Dogs that are so possessive of a person may attack another person or animal if they think they are competing for their attention and can become a real conflict in the family.

Dogs jealous towards other animals

Dogs that watch over other animals do so mainly because they want the person’s attention. They do not want to share the time of them and that is why they get in the middle of those who tries to caress another animal or person, and can even attack them.

There have been cases of animals that live together for a long time but, due to jealousy that is not corrected in time, one of them seriously injures or even kills the other because he considers it his rival.

In this case, the problem can be very serious if the dog prevents family life, especially if the object of jealousy is a baby that could be harmed in any way.

It is important to make good presentations between the baby and the animal so that there are no tensions and the dog does not perceive it as a threat. And do the same if suddenly a person begins to be part of our life.

Therapy and Jealous Dogs

We must tackle these problems from the first moment and never consent because they seem funny or because we do not want to bother the animal. We should not treat the animal as if it were a child, it is essential to set limits and have them respected.

If we can not control the situation we must resort to a professional so that everyone can see the problem and offer a guide to action, because when the problem becomes chronic, it is very difficult to stop.

This is something that often happens with dogs that live with a person and suddenly, are forced to live with more people or with other animals.
