“Russia’s decision not to participate in the ICC Statute, or in other words, to revoke the signing of this document, implies legal consequences provided by the Vienna Convention on International Treaties of 1969,” the ministry said in a statement to Foreign Affairs.

The resolution – to which Russia is outside the jurisdiction of the Hague Tribunal – comes into force today. The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that “in 14 years of operation, the ICC has issued only four sentences and has spent more than $ 1 billion.”
