After experimenting with Anglo pop music on his album “Double Vision” (2015), Prince Royce reclaims the bachata with his new album, “Five”.
“I have not had a bachata record for three years. I think my fans were already very excited about this album, so am I, “said the artist from Miami about the release of his album on Friday. “It’s a pleasure for me to return to this genre.”
The disc includes “Deja vu,” his single with Shakira released on Monday, whose audio clip already exceeds 1.5 million views on YouTube.
Royce called the Colombian star “super perfectionist and very involved in the recording.”
“I think the public will appreciate that,” he added, adding that they will soon be recording the official video in Barcelona.
Prince Royce participated in the composition of all songs from his fifth studio album, including “Ganas Locas,” which he plays with Farruko, and “Dilema,” about a boy who falls in love with two women.
“I think that I have matured a little bit more. Obviously time has passed and I recognize that I have grown as a person, as a composer and just like my fans, “said the musician, who at age 22 was awarded as a composer of the year at the Billboard Latin Music Awards 2012, becoming the the youngest person to receive the honor and has also been named Latin composer of the year by the BMI organization.
“Many of the songs have to do with my personal life, what has happened … I think people will be able to see that growth,” he said.
The American Chris Brown, the Mexican Gerardo Ortiz and the Cubans of Gente de Zona and Arturo Sandoval influenced his decisions to their countries to bachata, according to Royce.
“We played a lot of different music but are leaning back to bachata,” said the artist, who feels “very happy” with this album recorded in Miami and New York.
Although his music exudes romance, Prince Royce was unable to spend Valentine’s Day with his girlfriend, actress and model Emeraude Toubia, as she was in Toronto recording the series “Shadowhunters” while he was in Miami recording the television show “Little Giants USA”.
“It’s very hard to have to say no to a boy, but I think it’s for the sake of those young people. … For me it’s a pleasure to be part of their lives, “he said of his participation as a judge on the Univision reality show. “They take it seriously, they’re guys who really want to be singers, dancers, actors, comedians. My job is also to give them constructive advice that really helps them in their careers. “
