Michigan Gymnastics Doctor Accused of Sexual Abuse

A Michigan Gymnastics Doctor and Olympic gymnasts attended court hearings on Thursday to face charges against him for sexual abuse of nine of the athletes.

Dr. Larry Nassar was indicted on 22 criminal charges in Ingham and Eaton counties. In both courts he pleaded not guilty.

Nassar is not released because he is incarcerated for a separate case of child pornography in western Michigan.

Nassar was a sports doctor at Michigan State University and at USA Gymnastics, the organization that trains gymnasts for the Olympics.

He is accused of sexually abusing young women who came to him for hip or back pain.

In addition, dozens of former female athletes, mostly gymnasts have filed law suits for alleged sexual abuse at the University of Michigan, a gym near Lansing and other facilities. Nassar rejects the accusations.
