Vladimir Putin Brags About New Russian Nuclear Weapon

President of Russia, Vladimir Putin bragged on Thursday that his country has developed a new type of nuclear weapon that is capable of bypassing all missile defense systems.

The United States government said these are false claims and made many people comment about how this is reminiscent of the Cold War arms rivalry.

Political Analysts

Political analysts have come out to say they believe the tone of Putin’s state of the nation speech was only meant to bolster the tough image of himself before this month’s presidential election, in which there is very little doubt that he will lose. Other political analysts are questioning the threat that undetectable nuclear weapons would represent to Canada and the United States.

Now You Will Listen

During his state of the nation speech, Vladimir Putin said: “No one was listening, now you will listen.” He then stated that the Kremlin is going to respond accordingly to any kind of nuclear attack on Russia or any of Russia’s allies. This is some of the most aggressive language that Putin has used over the past year.

White House Press Conference

During a White House Press Conference, the White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said: “President Putin has confirmed what the United States government has known all along, which Russia has denied — Russia has been developing destabilizing weapon systems for over a decade, in direct violations of its treaty obligations.” Followed by: ” (President Trump) understands the threats facing America and our allies in this century, and is determined to protect our homeland and preserve peace through strength.”

New Weapons

Not only did Putin use strong words in his speech, but he added visuals as well. While he stood at the podium to make his speech, he had animated graphics and videos playing on a screen behind him, which showed the strength of the new weapons. Besides the new undetectable nuclear weapons, he also shows a new nuclear-armed cruise missile, a hypersonic missile as well as an underwater drone.
