Dr. Mark McKenna to Revolutionize Medical Aesthetics With New OVME Clinic in Atlanta

Dr. Mark McKenna’s OVME clinic in Atlanta is now open. The retail medical aesthetic company connects men and women with health care providers across the nation. Featuring retail boutiques, OVME connects patients with providers in select cities to offer high quality cosmetic services.

OVME clinics provide skin health that is “age appropriate.”

Dr. Mark McKenna is the former owner of ShapeMed. The chain offered cosmetic treatments to patients, including nutrition counseling, injections and hair removal. The chain, opened after Dr. McKenna lost millions after Hurricane Katrina, was sold to Lifetime Fitness in 2015.

The sale of ShapeMed led Dr. Mark McKenna to start a new venture called “OVME.” The vision for the company is to offer a national chain of cosmetic offices. The offices, with the first being opened in Atlanta, will also include an app that works much like Uber.

The OVME app connects customers or patients with freelance professionals. These professionals, all of which are well-known and respected in their field, will make on-demand house calls to patients.

OVME puts a premium on user experience, with the brand being built around retail medical aesthetics.

The clinic operates differently than a traditional aesthetics practice. Patients will be emailed a form that allows them to quickly meet with the patient coordinator when they enter the clinic. The streamlined process will make it faster and easier for patients and medical professionals.

Virtual consults and house calls will be provided with an app that sends providers directly to consumers looking for their service.

The app will focus on finding high quality doctors through plastic surgery society meetings and through large medical tradeshows. The company is preparing a campaign to target mid-level doctors on social media who can perform procedures in their respective states. Physicians’ assistants and nurse practitioners can perform certain procedures at a lower cost to the patient while still maintaining the highest level of quality.

OVME has raised $4 million in funding, with Atlanta investment firm Equity38 leading the investment round. The first two OVME clinics will be opened in Atlanta and Nashville. Part of the funding will go towards the development of the OVME app.

Providers within the OVME network will be able to use the app as a way to make extra money, much like Uber and Airbnb. Providers can choose to work in a specific area that is being serviced for as many hours as they please. OVME will lower the overhead of finding patients by connecting patients with providers that can make house calls and go the extra mile for patients.

When Dr. Mark Mckenna was asked about competition the company faces, he claims that the local market will have “quite a bit” of competition. The company will be the first of its kind on a national level. Established doctors in the local market that have already built a name for themselves and their clinic will be the main competitors for OVME.

The company forecasts $25 million in revenue over the next five-year period.
