Five years in Jail for man who buried his Mother in yard to collect her Pension

A man from northeastern Florida was sentenced to 5 years and 4 months in federal state prison when he buried his own dead mother in the yard of his home in order to continue collection the retirement payments received monthly by the woman.

According to a press release from the Florida State Attorney’s Office, Brian Lee Adams, 57, was convicted Monday.

Back in October of last year, Adams pleaded guilty to “theft of government property and aggravated identity theft”.

COLLECTED RETIREMENT PENSION MONEY FROM DEAD MOTHER

A total amount of $35,345 of social security money Mr. Adams swindled from his dead mother, he would transfer the pension checks and the social security checks between both of her accounts that he himself withdrew and used.

CTN News reported that prosecutors argued that Adams admitted that he did not notify anyone that his mother died of natural causes in July 2014.

Authorities received a call and discovered the body of the old woman in June 2015.
