Shooting in Miami Gardens Injured Woman and Baby

A five-month-old baby and women were injured when someone opened fire on a Miami Gardens home Wednesday afternoon, police said.

According to police, a 63-year-old woman was wounded in the neck and leg, the child suffered scratches after an adult covered him to prevent him from being hit by the shots. The incident took place in the 1500 block of the 175 Northwest Terrace.

The woman was taken to a local hospital where she was discharged after being treated, the child was then taken by her family to the hospital for examination of any hidden injuries.

Investigating law enforcement gave no more details of what had happened as it is in the pending investigation stage.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
