Russia’s defense ministry warned on Monday it’s going to target US-led coalition targets inside Syria following United states armed service forces toppled a Syrian Air Force plane Sunday.
Moscow condemned this destruction of the Syrian fighter aircraft after the aircraft dropped bombs close to US forces in Syria.
The US military confirmed that an American F-18 Super Hornet knocked down the jet Sunday after it dropped a number of bombs close to positions of the Syrian Democratic Forces, an american allied force within the fight against the extremist Islamic state.
The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that, starting Monday, it’s going to track all drones and aircraft of the US-led coalition west of the Euphrates and also target them.
The ministry also called on the US military services to supply a full account of why it decided to bring=down the Syrian SU-22.
Russia, an integral supporter of Syrian President Bashar Assad, has been providing air cover for the government’s offensive against the Islamic state since 2015.
The declaration from the Russian Defense Ministry came after having a senior Russian diplomat accuse the United States of “assaulting” the Syrian Air Force fighter.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov informed Russian news organizations that knocking down the airplane has been equivalent to “helping terrorists against the United States.”
“What is this, if not an act of aggression?” Ryabkov said.
