The US says Trump’s turn to Cuba is being ‘widely praised’

The White House said on June 19 that the change of policy towards Cuba proclaimed by President Donald Trump on Friday is being “widely praised as a step in the proper direction,” and that it will help the Cuban people attain “greater freedom Economic and political. ”

White House spokesperson Sean Spicer defended the modifications during a media conference, and guaranteed that “they are being extensively praised as a step in the right direction to empower the Cuban people.”

Asked if Trump intends to enforce more sanctions Cuba and press for issues such as human rights or the surrender of fugitives sought by US Justice, Spicer said that that it is necessary to “give time” to the policy just announced from the president, and not enhance events.

“The main part of what the president did was to pave the best way to inspire the Cuban people to develop greater economic and political freedom,” said the spokesperson.

Spicer recalled that changing the policy toward Cuba “was a campaign promise” by Trump before the 2016 presidential election, as he searched for votes in Florida.

“Instead of empowering the actual Cuban army by means of its capability to control the incoming dollars, and that wasn’t reaching individuals, the actions the president had taken Friday will help empower the people and ensure that not only maintains their Assurance that the American people stick to the law, but that there is a better result, to empower the Cuban men and women, “he added in.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez today firmly criticized Trump’s policy change, especially his final decision to not make further progress in the normalization course of action if Cuba doesn’t take concrete measures towards holding “free elections.”

The Cuban inner opposition has been divided between the “rejoicing” expressed from the leader from the Ladies in White, Berta Soler, and also the disappointment of other dissidents, such as Manuel Cuesta Morua.

Most international locations in Latin America have already been silent in regards to the turnaround announced by Mr. Trump, beyond the open criticism of Cuban authorities and partners like Venezuela, Bolivia as well as Nicaragua.

Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray stated that Cuba’s “enormous tenacity” will protect them from Mr. Trump’s decision and called for “dialogue, agreement and concertation” between the two countries.

Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South America, Michael Fitzpatrick, explained now that it is going to see how the countries of the continent receive the changes to Cuba announced by President Trump, but defended that Washington’s objectives for the island remain the same as before.

“I think ultimately, when folks glance at the specifics of what the new regulations will contain (that will still take a few months to complete), I think folks will understand that the goals have not changed so significantly,” Fitzpatrick mentioned at a conference Press telephone call with Conspiracy Talk News reporters.

These goals continue being for “making the regime accountable for it’s oppression as well as violations of human rights, and to promote the nation’s security interests of the United States and the Cuban people,” the official said.
