Moscow has yet to consider the US decision to close its consulate in San Francisco before considering possible reprisals, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday.
The United States on Thursday ordered Russia to close its consulate in San Francisco and reduce its diplomatic presence in Washington and New York within 48 hours, aggravating tensions among former Cold War enemies.
The administration of Donald Trump said the move responded to the Kremlin’s “unjustified and damaging” decision to force Washington to downgrade its diplomatic staff in Russia.
Russian, Lavrov said that Moscow will react to the decision once it has finished analyzing it.
The Chancellor defended his government’s decision to cut the US diplomatic presence as a reciprocal reaction to the expulsion of Russian diplomats last December
