Trump: Democrats use DACA to gain Votes

WASHINGTON – Republicans want solutions for dreamers, says Trump on Twitter.

President Donald Trump accused Democrats today of using the DACA plan , which protects undocumented youth who came to the US during childhood from deportation, in order to gain votes in future elections,  Republicans have a lot more interest in finding a solution.

“Republicans want to find a solution for DACA much more than Democrats. The Democrats had the three branches of the Government between 2008-2011 and did nothing about DACA. All they want is to use it as a campaign theme. Vote Republican! “Said Trump on Twitter.

In that message, Trump mistakenly said that the Democrats had power from the three branches of the State between 2008 and 2011 when, in fact, his predecessor, Barack Obama, came to the White House in January 2009 and the Supreme Court, which represents the judicial branch, has been in conservative hands since 1972.

What is certain is that the Democrats had control of the White House and the two houses of Congress from January 2009 to January 2011, when the new Republican who had triumphed in the 2010 elections took office and that’s when they gained control of the House of Representatives.

The Democrats tried to solve several times the immigration situation: the first time in 2010 with the so-called “Dream Act”, and, in 2013, with an immigration reform that won the support of the Senate, but was blocked by the Republican majority in the House of Representatives.

Now, Trump wants to approve an immigration reform that allows access to citizenship to 1.8 million undocumented immigrants who arrived in the United States as children, known as “dreamers”, but in exchange for US $25,000 million to build the Mexican wall and strengthen border security.

The figure of 1.8 million immigrants is higher than the 690,000 young people who are currently able to work and are protected from deportation by the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program, proclaimed by Obama in 2012 and whose term expires in March by order of Trump.

It is very possible that next week the debate on immigration reform will begin in Congress.

The leader of the Republican majority in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, fulfilled this week with the promise he made to the Democrats after the closure of the Administration in January, and presented a motion so that on Monday night so the Senate votes to open the debate about this immigration law.

The battle is difficult for Democrats, especially in the House of Representatives, where Republicans have a greater margin of advantage and, therefore, more power to include provisions to finance the Mexico wall and reduce legal immigration to the United States, as requested Trump.
