The CIA has declassified more than 470,000 additional documents about the 2011 assault on the shelter where Bin Laden was hiding.
He or someone close to him played pirated video games on a Nintendo DS and also watched Japanese animations such as Naruto and Dragon Ball.
Bin Laden also had pornography on his private computer. Osama Bin Laden will be studied in contemporary history classes, he was the leader of Al-Qaeda and the mastermind of the attacks of September 11, 2011 in New York and managed to remain hidden during the subsequent decade, until he was killed back in 2011 by an elite Marine command in a refuge within the mountains of Pakistan.
There are still many unknowns surrounding him, and today it seems that a few more have been unveiled.
Was Bin Laden a video-game player and did he watch Japanese animation? We already knew that he stored pornography on his computer, so it should not be so strange. His personal computer was full of video games, like Super Mario Bros, Animal Crossing; and, in addition to many western films of related subject, like the ribbons Resident Evil or Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.
In turn, the hard drive stored anime series (Japanese animation) such as Naruto, Dragon Ball and Bleach. This new information has been discovered thanks to more than 470,000 documents declassified by the CIA this past November 1, but all this information does not confirm that Bin Laden was the end user of his content. Given his massive family (he had more than 20 children) and more than 20 people lived in his shelter, it could belong to another person.
The computer in which all this was found, however, did belong to Bin Laden personally, so some responsibility falls his way, voluntary or not. Of course, all these games and series were ‘pirate’. Given the limited freedom of movement that was in the complex where he took refuge, all video games are installed in emulators, programs that mimic the architecture and ability of a video game console or microcomputer to play their games.
The origin of the films and series would be similar: downloaded from the Internet outside the shelter and copied to a hard disk in some way.
Among the more or less popular computer games, there are some curious ones, like old-fashioned erotic titles with 8-bit graphics. Fantasy 95 or Perestroika Girls are some of these ‘bootleg’ games developed by junior studios, basically to show nude women while playing a simple video game.
