Saudi Arabia Intercepts Ballistic Missile shot from Yemen

Saudi media reported that it’s forces intercepted a new ballistic missile shot Saturday from Yemen to one of the primary international airports of the kingdom situated on the outskirts of the capital, Riyadh.

The Houthi rebels of Yemen launched this missile over the Saudi land, based on several media outlets, such as Al-Masirah and SABA.

The rebels are at war against the kingdom

Saudi Arabia explained the missile was destroyed by it’s air defense forces as well as fragments of the projectile dropped into an uninhabited region just north of the capital.

The Saudi Arabian Civil Aviation Authority revealed that the rocket failed to cause damage to the King Khalid International Airport and the flights weren’t suspended.

It’s the first time that Houthi rockets have been so near to a heavily inhabited area, and evidently it’s the one which has traveled the most distance inside Saudi territory. Riyadh is situated about 1,000 km (620 ml) north of the national boundaries with Yemen.

A Saudi military spokesperson condemned this attack in a report and stated this missile has been fired “indiscriminately” towards a location populated by civilians.

Saudi forces currently have intercepted missiles that were fired by the Houthis on a number of occasions since 03, 2015, whenever a group directed by Saudi Arabia launched a war against the rebels as well as their allies after they have taken northern Yemen and deposed the president that had the support of Riad.

The kingdom has additionally imposed a “NO fly zone” upon Yemen.

A lot more than 10,000 citizens have already been murdered and leaving about three million homeless as a result of this war, a predicament which has positioned the poorest Arab region on the planet on the verge of starvation.
