After Kevin Spacey came out as gay and publicly apologized to Anthony Rapp for his sexual misconduct against him 13 years ago, he has faced a fierce backlash from the community and people.
Just after he released the statement, Netflix and House of Cards Producer Media Rights Capital released a statement declaring the trouble caused by the sexual allegations of the fictional President and how the show would conclude with its sixth and final season.
“Media Rights Capital and Netflix are deeply troubled by last night’s news concerning Kevin Spacey. In response to last night’s revelations, executives from both of our companies arrived in Baltimore this afternoon to meet with our cast and crew to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported. As previously scheduled, Kevin Spacey is not working on set at this time.
Kevin Spacey Faces Backlash From LGBT Community
After Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of “coming onto him”, Spacey took to twitter and shared how he was beyond horrified by the incident. Although he doesn’t remember what happened, he sincerely apologized for his “deeply inappropriate drunken behavior”.
He also took the incident and shared the deepest secret of his life. He came out of the closet and declared how he had romantic encounters with men and women but now “chooses to live his life as a gay man.”

After the statement, Kevin faced a strong backlash from LGBT community members who accused Spacey of trying to deviate from the serious allegations by coming out and apologizing in the same statement considering it irrelevant and improper.
“Coming out stories should not be used to deflect from allegations of sexual assault. This is not a coming out story about Kevin Spacey, but a story of survivorship by Anthony Rapp and all those who bravely speak out against unwanted sexual advances.” GLAAD President said in a statement.
Twitter users were filled with rage and the memes started coming out in huge numbers against Spacey’s statement.
I'm not interested in Kevin Spacey being gay. I'm curious as to why we're conflating sexuality w/ the molestation of a minor. Stay on topic

Kevin Spacey has just invented something that has never existed before: a bad time to come out.

Nope to Kevin Spacey's statement. Nope. There's no amount of drunk or closeted that excuses or explains away assaulting a 14-year-old child.
