Donald Trump Convenes Boeing and Lockheed Executives “To Bring Down the Costs”

On Wednesday, Donald Trump along with the top military officials met Boeing and Lockheed executives in a conference about “Trying to bring the costs down” on the most controversial F-35 fighter jet and other Pentagon Projects with high prices.

For the first time ever, Trump heard from Air Force Lt. Gen. Chris Bogdan, who is the person responsible to run the F-35 project.

The F-35 project has been repeatedly slammed by Donald Trump for being “out of control” schedule delays and high-costs. The Pentagon also carried the models of the three versions of the F-35 for the U.S Air Force, Marines and Navy.

The President-elect escorted the military officials and told the reporters that the meeting was “primarily the F-35, trying to get the costs down — a program that is very, very expensive.”

He also met with the CEO of Lockheed and Boeing Marillyn Hewson and Dennis Muilenburg respectively, in private. Lockheed manufactures the F-35, which is the most expensive weapon programs in the history of America.

Whereas, Boeing is said to be the contractor for the new fleet of the Air Force One— A project that Trump had Threatened to cancel due to its high price.

When asked about his meeting, Trump said:

We’re just beginning, it’s a dance”. He added, “It’s a little bit of a dance. But we’re going to get the costs down [on the F-35] and we’re going to get it done beautifully.

Muilenberg reported that he had a “Very Productive” discussion with the President-elect and the assure that Boeing would complete the brand new presidential aircraft for less Trump’s $4 biilion estimate.

Mr. Muilenburg said,

We’re going to get it done for less than that, and we’re committed to working together to make sure that happens,”. “I was able to give the president-elect my personal commitment on behalf of the Boeing Company. This is a business that’s important to us. We work on Air Force One because it’s important to our country and we’re going to make sure that he gets the best capability and that it’s done affordably.
