The Winter Storm Brings White Christmas, Blizzard aims at the Dakotas, Montana

A major storm will continue to snow over the North- Central parts of the United States till Monday, creating hazardous conditions to travel.

Meteorologist Brett Rathbun said

The heaviest snow and worst of the blizzard conditions will occur from Rapid City, South Dakota, to Bismarck and Grand Forks, North Dakota.

As the blizzard is expected to aim at the Dakotas, some portions of Minnesota and Wisconsin.

A warning in terms of Blizzard was in effect for the most parts of North Dakota, western South Dakota, along with a small section of eastern Montana on Monday, with expected snowfall upto 8 to 15 inches and winds up to 55 mph.

The Department of Transportation in South Dakota announced the closing on Sunday night of the Interstate 90 from the Wyoming border to Chamberlain.

The Department mention in a statement,

The freezing rain from earlier today and dropping temps have created icy and slushy roadways; falling snow and increasing winds are creating zero visibility conditions in the west.

Whereas, the North Dakota Transportation Department closed around 240 miles stretch of Interstate 94 from the Montana Border to Jamestown. Along with 100 mile stretch of the U.S Highway 83 between Bismarck and Minot was also closed due drifting snow and zero visibility.

Near about ½ inch of ice is said to be accumulated in central Minnesota and the weather service has said to be open for only those need.

The NWS office in Aberdeen(South Dakota) issued a flash flood warning in the area due to the combination of rain and melting snow.

Rain and storms were also recorded to move through the parts of Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and texas on Sunday.
