Japan’s Defence Minister visits Yasukuni War Shrine , After Pearl Harbour with Abe

On Thursday, Japan’s Defence Minister visited the Yasukuni (the most controversial) Shrine, after her visit to Pearl Harbour accompanied by the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe.

This controversial shrine honours millions of Japanese dead during the war and has been criticised by other countries like South Korea, China which suffered under colonialism of Japan and aggression in the first half of the 20th century.

Tomomi Inada (Defence Minister), along with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited the shrine for the first time since they walked into the key cabinet.

The visit to Yasukuni shrine by the prominent Japanese officials affected the neighbor countries like China and South Korea, who consider the shrine as a symbol of Japan’s militarism, plus a reminder of its wartime atrocities.

The Defence ministry of South Korea called the visit “deplorable”.

Meanwhile Trump tweeted as well asking:

On Tuesday, Inada joined Barack Obama and Abe for her first visit by a Japanese leader and a U.S President to Pearl Harbor in order to commemorate the loss of the Japanese attack that took place 75 years ago.

Inada told the reporters in an interview at Yasukuni:

This year the president of the country that dropped the atomic bomb visited Hiroshima, and yesterday the prime minister made remarks of consolation at Pearl Harbor.” ,”I visited the shrine wishing to firmly create peace for Japan and the world from a future-oriented perspective.

The Prime Minister Abe said:

I offer my sincere and everlasting condolences to the souls of those who lost their lives here, as well as to the spirits of all the brave men and women whose lives were taken by a war that commenced in this very place.
