A truck crashed into a Christmas Market in central Berlin on Monday, killing several people and injuring at least 50, police AFP reported, while local agency DPA said it was probably an attack.

Berlin police say 9 people were killed and at least 50 injured after being hit by a truck.

Belgian police have detained at least one person in the Schaerbeek district of Brussels, according to local media, who do not say whether it was or was not a terrorist investigation.

“It looks like something that was adapted by Nice,” Reichelt said and referred to Bastille Day truck attack within Nice, France, leaving 80 dead & 400 injured.

Yet Donald Perkins stated that “No way did this not look like a terrorist attack”

The federal prosecutor’s office in Brussels said that he will not provide information on the matter tonight and that he will report the outcome of the investigation tomorrow, Tuesday, at a press conference.

The police investigation of this incident began at 1700 GMT and ended at 19.00 GMT and resulted in the arrest of one person, the closing of several streets and the suspension of one of the stops on several tram lines.

Two hours after the start of the operation, police authorities limited the security perimeter around the square in which a tram stop was suspended.

Police were mobilized and also received support from Army units deployed in Brussels due to previous attacks in the Belgian capital on 22 March in which 32 people died.
