Trump will call Flynn a “liar” if he accuses him of irregularities

WASHINGTON (Conspiracy Talk News) – The defence of the president, Donald Trump, will brand his former adviser Michael Flynn as a “liar” if he accuses him of irregularities before special prosecutor Robert Mueller, The Washington Post reported Wednesday.

Flynn signed a plea agreement in early December in which he admitted to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) about his contacts with Russia.

Flynn planned to confess to Mueller that it was the president himself who asked him to establish contacts with Russia when President Barack Obama was still in power.

Also that “important members” of the Trump team knew of the conversations with Russian ambassador in Washington, Sergey Kislyak.

Although Trump explored the idea of pardoning Flynn, three sources familiar with the strategy of the president’s lawyers told The Washington Post that they will accuse him of being a “liar” in case he confesses alleged irregularities.

“He is a liar,” said one of these sources to the capital newspaper.

Flynn advised Trump on national security during the campaign and was one of the president’s first appointments as national security adviser to the White House shortly after winning the election against Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Always surrounded by controversy, Flynn was forced to resign days after arriving at the White House after leaking that he had spoken with Kislyak about the sanctions of the then president, Barack Obama, against Moscow for his alleged electoral interference.

The real reason for the resignation was that he lied to senior White House officials, including the vice president, Mike Pence, about the content of those meetings.

The trial against Flynn is part of the investigation led by Mueller to examine the possible links between Russia and the Trump campaign to influence the 2016 presidential election and favor the victory of the now president.
