Netflix suspends airing house of cards after six seasons

The popular television series House of Cards is set to come to an abrupt end.

This is after reports emerged that Mr. Spacey was involved in sexual harassment claims. Production of the sixth season was already underway and the sixth season would premiere sometime in 2018. The suspension happened on Tuesday 31st October 2017, two days after the sexual harassment claims emerged.

“The production is being halted to give us time to review the current situation and to address any concerns of our cast and crew,” commented Netflix and Media Rights Capital in a joint statement. On Monday 30th October 2017, executives from both of the media gurus spoke to the cast and crew of House of Cards about the incident.

The streaming service on the same day announced that the sixth season would be the show’s last. “The decision had been reached months ago, long before the allegation against Mr. Spacey,” remarked a representative from Netflix.

The one time Oscar winner was accused of trying to seduce a junior actor, Anthony Rapp, during a party held at his residence in New York. Anthony was only 14 years-old then, while Mr. Spacey was 26. He tried to seduce Rapp by laying down on top of him at the party in his New York apartment in 1986.

Mr. Spacey was due to receive an award from the International Emmy Founders in November 2017 in New York, but the award has since been revoked in the wake of the allegations against him.

“The International Academy has announced today that in light of recent events it will not honor Kevin Spacey with the 2017 International Emmy Founders Award,” read a statement on The International Academy’s website.

Mr. Spacey responded to the allegations through his Twitter account. The actor remarked, “I am beyond horrified to hear the story and I have no memory of the encounter as it would have happened more than 30 years ago.” He further added, “If I did behave as my fellow actor describes then I owe him the sincerest apology for what was deeply inappropriate drunken behavior.”

Mr. Spacey is long known for maintaining a low-key private personal life, and he used the opportunity to announce that he has chosen to lead the rest of his life as a gay man. “This story has encouraged me to address other things about my life.

I know there are stories out there about me and some have been fueled by the fact that I have been so protective of my private life,” Mr. Spacey remarked. He further added, “The people closest to me know that I have previously had relationships with both men and women. I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man. I want to deal with this honestly and openly, and that starts with examining my own behavior.”

Two more allegations have since emerged.

American television anchor Heather Unruh, 50, suggested that one of her loved ones also fell prey to the actor’s misdemeanors. “The #weinsteinscandal has emboldened me. I was a Kevin Spacey fan until he assaulted a loved one. It’s time the dominoes fell,” commented the TV anchor. She further added, “The dominoes are falling. My loved one will speak when ready.”

Another alleged incident is said to have happened in a lavatory at the Edinburg TV festival in 2013. Sources claim that Kevin Spacey made advancements on a writer, but the writer pushed him away and left.

Behind the Barred Windows: How Afghanistan’s War on Drugs Became a Battle for Souls

Behind the Barred Windows: How Afghanistan’s War on Drugs Became a Battle for Souls : If you walk through Kabul today, it might look cleaner than it did a few years ago. The parks once filled with men sprawled under the sun, the bridges littered with used needles and broken glass — they’re mostly empty now. Kids are playing again in Shahr-e-Naw Park. But behind the locked doors and barred windows of the city’s rehab centers, another battle rages — one far more complicated than it looks from the outside.
