Trump’s Proposal For “Dreamers” Angers His Allies

NEW YORK (Conspiracy Talk News) – Those loyal to President Donald Trump across the United States attacked his proposal to provide a way for the almost two million young migrants known as “dreamers” to  obtain citizenship.

The candidates aligned with Trump in Nevada and Virginia, now openly rejected the idea. The most loyal media outlet for the president, Breitbart News, called him “Don Amnesty”. And outside groups that applauded the harsh rhetoric that dominated Trump’s election campaign warned of a fierce reaction against the Republican Party in the mid-term elections to be held in November.

“There is a real possibility of disaster,” said Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, a far-right group. “The president has not yet sold his voters. But I think it’s important that his supporters make it clear that they are watching him. “

The unrest centred on President Trump, who already changed his mind before in similar pressure situations.

But the president has never faced such an important test on such a significant issue, which dominated his campaign and inspired a coalition of working-class voters who backed his unlikely arrival at the White House.

Now, barely a year after assuming the presidency, the Republican can bend to the will of his base or the pressure to govern and commit.

“His leadership will determine the fate of hundreds of thousands of immigrants and if your party can improve its position among the growing Hispanic voters. It could also alienate those who love him.” said one supporter who wanted to stay anonymous.

“There’s a Trump movement, and it’s not necessarily about Donald Trump,” said Corey Stewart, a Republican candidate for the Senate in Virginia and known ally of the president. “It’s about the things that Donald Trump campaigned on and defended – ultimately, all elected leaders must remain true to the message they were elected on, otherwise people will abandon them.”

This passionate response underscores the immigration dilemma that plagues the Republican Party in the Trump era.

Much of the country, including independent and moderate Republicans, is in favor of protections for the thousands of young people who were illegally brought into the country when they were minors and were brought up in the country without any fault. But a notable conservative faction, emboldened by the president’s anti-immigration rhetoric, will never accept anything that is considered an “amnesty.” And many think that giving legal coverage to these young migrants is just that.

The proposal of the White House includes an investment of billions of dollars in border security and significant changes in immigration policy, much awaited by the conservatives.

Several Democrats and immigration activists rejected the plan outright.

But that his supporters are focused on the “amnesty” to the dreamers shows the ingrained of the matter in his case and the little room for manoeuvring available to the leader.

The plan would provide a mechanism for the naturalisation of the nearly 690,000 young immigrants who were protected from deportation by the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Trump told reporters this week that he was in favor of a way for them to obtain citizenship, a notion that he explicitly rejected in in the past.

This law is a priority for the Democrats, who forced a government shutdown on this issue last week. The president seems ready now to reach an agreement.

Death of young puppy aboard United flight triggers United States department inquiry
