WASHINGTON (Conspiracy Talk News) – Hillary Clinton said she is “dismayed” by the sexual harassment allegations made against her primary adviser to the 2008 presidential campaign.
Through Twitter, Clinton said that on Friday she called the person who reported the harassment – a former employee of her campaign team – to tell her that she was proud she broke the silence and defended herself.
Clinton says she wanted to “make sure that she knows what all women should know: we deserve to be heard.”
The former Democratic presidential candidate tweeted after The New York Times reported that she refused to fire the adviser, Burns Strider, despite recommendations from the director of the campaign team.
The man who, the young woman said, “rubbed her shoulders inappropriately, kissed her on the forehead, and sent her a string of suggestive emails,” remained in his place; the woman who had reported the wrongdoing was the one who was made to move.
Clinton has not said why Strider remained in the 2008 campaign.
The Times reported that Strider’s salary was withheld for several weeks and he was ordered to undergo counselings, but he refused to attend.
He did not respond to requests for comments from the Times.
