Trump will insist to congressmen that the wall with Mexico is “priority”

WASHINGTON (Conspiracy Talk News) – President Donald Trump will insist Tuesday that the “wall” with Mexico and “eliminate the visa lottery” are priorities for agreeing on immigration reform, including a solution for undocumented youth known as “dreamers” at the meeting today with legislators.

“President Trump hopes to meet with bipartisan members of the House and the Senate to discuss the next steps to achieve responsible immigration reform,” Lindsay Walters, the White House deputy spokeswoman said in a statement minutes before the meeting began.

Walters insisted that “the priorities of the Trump government are clear: secure the Mexico border with a wall, close dangerous security failures, eliminate the visa lottery program and end the chain migration.”

The search for an immigration solution for the “dreamers” has become a key issue in the budget negotiations between the Congress and the White House, which must be finalised before January 19 if the federal government is to avoid having to close partially due to lack of funds.

Trump announced last September the end of the program DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), promoted by former President Barack Obama in 2012 and that protected them from deportation to undocumented youths who came to the country as children, known as “dreamers” “

In his announcement, he gave Congress until March 5th to solve the immigration situation of the “dreamers” and the Democratic opposition has been pressing for months to pass a law that protects 690,000 young people from deportation, which, until last September, they were covered by DACA.

For its part, the president refers to “migration in a chain” to the process by which citizens or permanent residents can help their families to emigrate to the country, and the visa lottery is a lottery held annually by the US Government between citizens of nations with a low number of emigrants to this country.

Twenty-three lawmakers are invited to the meeting, including Democratic Senators Dick Durbin, Dianne Feinstein, Bob Menendez, Michael Bennet, Jon Tester, Heidi Heitkamp and Mazie Hirono; and the congressmen of that party Henry Cuéllar, Steny Hoyer and Bennie Thompson.

Among the Republicans invited are Senators John Cornyn, Tom Cotton, Jeff Flake, Cory Gardner, Lindsey Graham, Chuck Grassley, Thom Tillis and James Lankford, who mostly share and agree with Trump’s demands.
